Why Is Typo Hashtag #HillaryForPrision Trending on Twitter?

Answer may not be as dumb as it looks

Hashtag #HillaryForPrision began trending on Twitter Monday morning — and no, this writer didn’t just strike a typo on his MacBook Air.

There may be no “I” in “team,” but there’s definitely one in “prison” — and ONLY one. So, how did this misspelled hashtag make the Top 2 in America, just behind trending phrase “Happy Halloween,” which isn’t going anywhere today? According to a bevy of Twitter users that appear to be Donald Trump supporters, this was the only way to sneak the phrase past Twitter’s allegedly liberal censors. Plus, “prision” is “prison” in Spanish, which may actually make this more clever (and perhaps, ironic) than it appears at first blush.

The social media website itself didn’t have a comment on the matter when reached by TheWrap. A person associated with the company did, however, send us some FAQ and media coverage language that appears to suggest a denial of the censorship-bias allegations.

Read some of the explanation tweets, which start to feel logical after a few hundred:

Of course, those clarifications aren’t stopping those who likely skew liberal — or, at least are sticklers for proper English — from mocking the misspelling. Enjoy a small sample of those here:
