‘Morning Joe’ Condemns ‘Un-American’ World Series Chants at Trump: ‘Of Course It’s Sickening’ (Video)

The crowd booed and chanted “lock him up” at President Trump at Sunday’s World Series game

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough chastised the Sunday-night crowd at the fifth game of the World Series for booing at President Trump and chanting “Lock him up,” calling the verbal outburst “sickening.”

“It’s Un-American,” the “Morning Joe” co-host said on Monday of the booing that took place when Trump and First Lady Melania Trump appeared on screen at the game between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros.

Scarbourough and co-host Mika Brzezinski both pointed out that Trump himself is the originator of the chant: He used a version — “lock her up” — as the “centerpiece of his campaign rallies” when running against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for the presidency in 2016.

“We find it sickening when it happens at his rallies,” Brzezinski said. “It’s leering at the president.”

“Of course it’s sickening,” Scarborough responded. “We are Americans and we do not do that. We do not want the world hearing us chant, ‘Lock him up,’ to this president or to any president.”

Brzezinski added, “And yet he created it…”

Scarborough suggested Trump could learn from the experience of having the phrase wielded at him, saying, “Let’s hope, as we move forward, maybe this is one less fascist tactic he and his supporters use during chants, that you’re going to actually imprison your political opponents.”

Brzezinski, for her part, noted she doesn’t think “it’s possible” for him to get it.
