Revolt CEO Keith Clinkscales has stepped down from his role at the company, TheWrap has learned.

In a memo sent to staffers on Thursday, Clinkscales announced his departure from the music-themed network that was founded by Sean “Puffy” Combs, thanking his team and assuring them that the company remains on “exceptional footing.”

Chief Operating Officer Derek Ferguson will temporarily take the reins while Revolt searches for Clinkscales’ replacement.

Clinkscales has served as CEO at Revolt since 2013, when he was appointed to the position by Combs, who is the company’s chairman. Before taking on this role, Clinkscales spent eight years as a senior vice president at ESPN, four years as chairman and CEO at Vanguarde Media and eight years as president/CEO at VIBE.

As we approach our third anniversary in October, I must take a moment of reflection to truly enjoy what has happened here at REVOLT. It is with some trepidation, that I announce to you all that I will be leaving REVOLT.

I have had the distinct pleasure in participating in a successful launch with one of the most prolific entrepreneurs in American history, our chairman Sean Combs. Most importantly, I want to sincerely thank him and the entire board for the opportunity to lead and to help get us to where we are today.

REVOLT has provided me with many wonderful memories, scintillating challenges, and a great deal of fun. Most of all, being here at REVOLT provided me with a history-making opportunity.

I am grateful for the opportunity to work with the senior executives of Combs Enterprises and for making me feel like one of “the family.”

But most of all, I would like to thank all of you, my fellow teammates. You’ve always been a joy to work with and together we have a track record of amazing achievements during one of the most dynamic times in the history of the industry. You all should be very proud of how far you have brought this company.

The price of innovation is paid with the courage to make changes. Although I will no longer be your leader, I assure you that REVOLT is standing on exceptional footing.

Continue to be great friends, and continue to exemplify one of the Chairman’s greatest qualities…persistence.

“Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop.”

In Progress,
Keith T. Clinkscales
