The actor told Conan O'Brien on Wednesday night that producer Jerry Bruckheimer told him “it's real”
The unexpected confirmation of the sequel came when Conan O'Brien asked Lawrence during a late-night appearance on Wednesday if rumors of a third were true.
“I believe so, yes. I just spoke to Jerry Bruckheimer yesterday and he said it's real,” Lawrence said. “They're working on the script. They're getting close to this. It all looks good.”
Sony, the studio behind the franchise, did not yet respond to TheWrap‘s request for comment.
The first “Bad Boys,” which hit theaters in 1995, launched Lawrence, Smith and Bay's movie careers, while grossing $141.4 million worldwide on a $19 million budget. The second arrived in 2003 and grossed over $273.3 million worldwide on a $130 million budget.
