Gavin DeGraw Cancels Tour Dates After NYC Beating, Getting Hit by Cab (Update)

Singer in stable condition, publicist says

UPDATE, Thursday 11:40 a.m.:

Gavin DeGraw has been forced to cancel a string of tour dates with Maroon 5 and Train to recover from injuries sustained from a beating and from being hit by a cab, according to his official website.

The canceled dates are as folllows:

DeGraw is expected to re-join the tour on August 24 in Columbia, MD on August 24.

"I Don't Want to Be" singer Gavin DeGraw was hospitalized after being attacked and beaten and then hit by a cab in New York City. His injuries included a broken nose and black eyes, police said.

DeGraw told police he was beaten by three males. He was walking on 1st Avenue and 6th Street when he was attacked, police said. The motive was unclear and no one has been arrested.

His publicist, Fran Curtis, told ABC News that DeGraw was "recovering and in stable condition" after the attack around 4 a.m. Monday morning. She said he also suffered a concussion and cuts and bruises.

It was unclear which injuries were from the beating and which were from the cab, police said.

"I Don't Want to Be" is the theme to the CW's "One Tree Hill."

DeGraw has been touring with Train and Maroon 5. His fifth album, "Sweeter," is due in stores Sept. 20.

DeGraw co-owns the bar and music venue National Underground, six blocks from the site of the attack.
