OWN Scores Respectable Ratings – Especially When Oprah’s On It

Winfrey-dominated lineup in Saturday primetime made OWN No. 3 in its demo in ad-supported cable networks

Oprah Winfrey's OWN Network turned in respectable numbers in its debut weekend — especially when Winfrey was on the air.

OWN was third in ad-supported cable networks among women 25-54 on Saturday night from 8-10 p.m., during “Season 25: Oprah Behind the Scenes,” a reality show chronicling the final season of "The Oprah Winfrey Show." It came in behind ESPN and USA, according to final Nielsen numbers released Tuesday.

Total viewers averaged 1.017 million, a .52 rating, with 391,000 of them in the target demo, for a .93 rating.

But ratings stood out less during the network's other shows. It was in eighth-place overall in ad-supported cable networks in its demo Saturday during the hours it aired shows.

During those hours the network averaged 516,000 total viewers, a .27 rating, and 202,000 viewers in the demo, a .48 rating.

The network reaches about 85 million homes.
