GetGlue Names Evan Krauss President – After Spotting Him on LinkedIn

Take heed, job seekers – GetGlue's CEO reached out to Krauss after seeing him online

Here's an argument for keeping your LinkedIn profile up to date: The social television site GetGlue named Evan Krauss its new president Tuesday, soon after CEO Alex Iskold spotted him on the networking site for finding jobs and employees.

Krauss joins GetGlue after a brief stint at Federated Media Publishing. He previously led Shazam's second-screen advertising business as executive vice president of Global Advertising Sales.

Iskold, who founded GetGlue in 2007, said he had met Krauss previously, but didn't realize he was no longer with Shazam until he saw his profile on LinkedIn.

"We intersected at a few conferences and I made a note that he was a really smart guy," Iskold told TheWrap. "I randomly came across him on LinkedIn. … I think I saw that he posted something on the feed, so I reached out."

Krauss has built new products while working with companies including Yahoo!, AOL, Excite, Jumptap, and Looksmart.

“I couldn’t be more excited to join GetGlue at such an exciting time. It’s clear that second screen is here to stay and is an important emerging category for TV networks and brands to engage fans,” he said in a statement.

New York City-based GetGlue enables users to tell friends what they're watching, track their favorite shows, and find videos, images, and links. It tries to offer a rich second-screen experiences as viewers decide what to watch and make suggestions to others.

Krauss and GetGlue's recently hired executive vice president of sales, Shelby Huston Haro, will work together on increasing advertising that they hope will feel unobtrusive and organic.

For example, one of GetGlue's most popular features is a personalized guide, or grid, that helps users decide what to watch. The company is now offering networks the chance to promote their shows on the grids.

The company is also integrating advertising into videos, pictures, and messages to users. Iskold said it plans to roll out more advertising products in the next 12 to 18 months.
