The dancing baby. The Fish. Bygones. Vonda Shephard’s sometimes annoying, sometimes brilliant musical stylings.
They’ll all be coming back this fall when 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment finally releases David E. Kelley’s "Ally McBeal" on DVD.
The studio Friday confirmed that "Ally" will hit the DVD market on October 6. Fans will have two options: A season one collection or a megaset serving up the complete series (on 32 discs) for a suggested retail price of $199.98. The superset will feature several featurettes and a soundtrack with previously unreleased songs.
Twentieth has also struck a deal with Target that will let consumers who buy season one download three free songs from the "Best of Ally" soundtrack.
Musical clearance rights no doubt played a role in the long delay of "Ally’s" DVD release. The good news: The DVD will feature all of the original music from the series.
"Ally" starred Calista Flockhart (now shedding tears on "Brothers & Sisters"), Courtney Thorne-Smith, Peter MacNicol, Lucy Liu, Portia de Rossi and Jane Krakowski. If you don’t know that Flockhart played a wacky young Boston lawyer named Ally McBeal, well… why are you even reading this post?
