The average cost of a movie ticket increased by four cents in 2014.
The National Association of Theatre Owners announced on Tuesday that the average cost of a ticket purchased at American theaters was $8.17, up .50 percent from 2013’s average ticket price, $8.13.
The average cost of tickets in the fourth quarter of 2014, however, fell .59 percent from the same quarter in 2013. Tickets averaged $8.30 between October and December last year, while costing an average of $8.35 during the same time period a year before.
Overall, the box office fell 5.2 percent from the record-breaking numbers the industry saw in 2013. Don’t feel too bad for Hollywood, though. The movie industry still raked in $10.35 billion in 2014.
