Trump, Sen. Bob Corker Exchange Twitter Insults: ‘Lightweight’ vs. #AlertTheDaycareStaff

“Same untruths from an utterly untruthful president,” Tennessee Republican tweets Tuesday, sparking another online feud

Senator Bob Corker meant what he said when he called the White House an “adult day care” earlier this month. In advance of a White House lunch with Republican senators, Corker warned that we should #AlertTheDaycareStaff.

“Same untruths from an utterly untruthful president. #AlertTheDaycareStaff,” he tweeted in what seems to be another instantly viral moment.

Trump himself quickly responded in kind, calling Corker, who recently announced plans to retire after his current term expires, a “lightweight … who couldn’t get re-elected in the Great State of Tennessee.”

Corker’s tweet comes in response to the latest Trump barb, in which the president said the Senator was retiring in 2018 because he could not be reelected.

“Bob Corker, who helped President O give us the bad Iran Deal & couldn’t get elected dog catcher in Tennessee, is now fighting Tax Cuts,” wrote Trump. “Corker dropped out of the race in Tennesse when I refused to endorse him, and now is only negative on anything Trump. Look at his record!

Though once considered a possibility for vice president, Trump’s relationship with Corker has noticeably soured in recent weeks.

After Corker publicly questioned Trump’s fitness for office, Trump has repeatedly insisted that the Tennessee Republican was only retiring because he could not secure the president’s endorsement.

During an appearance on “Good Morning America” Tuesday, Corker told host George Stephanopoulos that he hoped Trump might professionalize his White House operation, but declined to take any additional kill shots on live television.
