Job Description:
TheWrap, the leading digital-first news organization covering the business of entertainment and media, is seeking a dynamic and creative Director of Social Media to lead the day-to-day execution of our social platforms. This role requires a balance of strategic thinking, creative storytelling, and data-driven decision-making to grow our audience, increase engagement, and drive traffic and visibility for our editorial and branded content.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Platform Strategy & Execution: Develop and implement platform-specific strategies across X/Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Bluesky and Threads to maximize engagement, grow followers, and reinforce TheWrap’s brand identity.
  • Creative Content Production: Collaborate with creative, editorial and video teams to package content in compelling ways; write eye-catching copy, create visual assets, and produce short-form video as needed.
  • Analytics & Optimization: Monitor performance using tools like Sprout Social, Chartbeat and native platform insights. Use findings to A/B test captions, visuals, and posting times to optimize performance and increase visibility.
  • Branded Content Execution: Coordinate and publish branded social campaigns, ensuring alignment with client objectives while maintaining TheWrap’s voice and editorial standards.
  • Trendwatching: Stay on top of social media trends, memes, and algorithm changes to inform strategy and keep TheWrap ahead of the curve.
  • Live Events Coverage: Cover live events like awards shows, film festivals and red carpets with speed, efficacy and the ability to multitask visual and written assets in real-time.

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of professional experience managing social media accounts for a media outlet, brand, or agency.
  • Strong creative sensibility and writing skills, with a keen eye for packaging content for digital consumption.
  • Deep familiarity with analytics platforms and a demonstrated ability to interpret data and act on it.
  • Experience working on branded content or sponsored campaigns, ideally in a media environment.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven newsroom environment.
  • Knowledge of entertainment, pop culture, and media industries is essential.

Bonus Points For:

  • Experience with social video editing tools (e.g., Adobe Premiere, CapCut, Canva, Opus, etc.)
  • Comfort and experience conducting red carpet interviews.

Salary: $90,000 annually, commensurate with experience

This is a Los Angeles-based role with four days a week required in office.

Entertainment Advertising Sales Coordinator

TheWrap News Inc. is the leading independent news organization covering the business of film, TV, technology, and media, producing digital and video content, print magazines, industry events, and screenings.

We have an immediate opening for an Entertainment Advertising Sales Coordinator to join our team in Santa Monica. This role is key to supporting our dynamic sales team, collaborating with clients and ad agency partners, and working cross-functionally with senior management, marketing, ad ops, production, accounting, editorial, video, and social media.

This is a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment—attention to detail, strong organizational skills, flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and teamwork are essential. Prior experience in entertainment ,publishing or at an ad agency is preferred.

Passion and knowledge of fashion, culture, and luxury is a plus  to support our WrapStyle franchise (Oscar & Emmy editions, weekly newsletters).

This is a full-time, in-office job that requires four days a week in our Santa Monica office.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update sales trackers, databases, spreadsheets, and circulation lists
  • Take detailed sales meeting notes and manage timely follow-ups
  • Research and build lead lists for sales ; manage pipelines using tools such as  Google Sheets, Salesforce, ComScore, MediaRadar, IMDB Pro, RocketReach
  • Coordinate digital and print ad materials (specs, deadlines, proofing) for all Wrap platforms and products
  • Responsible for production layout for TheWrap magazines (print & digital) in partnership with editorial, sales, and creative teams
  • Draft, track, and execute contracts, sponsorships, barter deals, and insertion orders (DocuSign)
  • Support sales materials development: pitch decks, sell sheets, presentations (PowerPoint, Google Slides, Canva Pro)
  • Partner with accounting and sales to track and collect overdue invoices
  • Provide monthly ComScore metrics reports
  • Support pre- and on-site event operations (ticketing, guest check-in, greenroom coordination, post-event wrap-up)
  • Oversee the WrapStyle internship program and assist with other department interns
  • Perform administrative duties as needed (expense reports, phone coverage, marketing projects)

Key Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2+ years of experience in entertainment, film, or at an ad agency a must
  • Prior experience in sales, digital media, publishing, video, research, or social media preferred 
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities; able to prioritize effectively is essential
  • Strong communication and client service skills with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively across teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Canva Pro; familiarity with Salesforce, ComScore, MediaRadar, IMDB Pro, RocketReach, BOX, Slack, DocuSign
