Mark-Paul Gosselaar Experiments With ‘Weeds’

“Saved by the Bell” alum will appear in one episode of Showtime’s contraband comedy

Mark-Paul Gosselaar will be doing a single episode guest stint on Showtime’s stoner comedy "Weeds."

The actor will play a bartender who has a romantic relationship with drug-dealing suburban mom Nancy Botwin, played by Mary Louise Parker. A spokesperson for Showtime confirmed the casting to TheWrap on Friday.

Showtime isn’t releasing any additional details about Gosselaar’s appearance, but it’s safe to assume his character’s dalliance with Nancy will be a brief fling, since he’s only signed on for the one episode.

Gosselaar has an extensive TV resume. He’s currently starring in the TNT legal drama "Franklin & Bash," which was greenlit in May and will be on air in the fall. Gosselaar also has appeared in a long list of shows including "NYPD Blue," "John From Cincinnati, "Commander in Chief" and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," but he’s best known for his role as Zack Morris on the early-’90s high school comedy "Saved by the Bell."

Hopefully, Gosselaar’s stint on "Weeds" will work out better than the last time one of the "Saved by the Bell" kids messed around with drugs
