Joe Scarborough was bothered by Donald Trump and JD Vance going after Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Oval Office attire.
During Monday’s “Morning Joe” episode, Scarborough recapped last Friday’s dust up in the Oval Office. Vance piped up in the meeting to ask why Zelenskyy chose not to wear a suit to the meeting, which led to a louder argument that Trump proclaimed would make “great TV.”
“Fascinating that JD Vance, I guess maybe for the first time, decided to just jump in to a meeting and take over a meeting where Donald Trump was running that meeting,” the MSNBC host said. “So many things deeply disturbing about that meeting but you don’t have to take that from me.”

Scarborough continued, “Just look at Marco Rubio slouched on the couch when the question is asked of a man who has been enduring the most horrific of slaughter from Russian troops over the past three years. Watching people he knew and loved killed and watching the country that he loves invaded by Russian invaders asked if he was wearing a suit, why he was not wearing a suit. Interesting Winston Churchill never asked that question.”
Alongside his comments on Zelenskyy sans suit, Vance also made it known he thought the Ukrainian president should “offer some words of appreciation” for the military and financial support the U.S. has provided Ukraine. He further noted it was “disrespectful” for Zelenskyy to come into the Oval Office and “try to litigate” the Russia-Ukraine war “in front of the American media right now.”
The U.S. State Department revealed last month that the United States gave $65.9 billion to Ukraine since Russia invaded in 2022 and an additional $27.69 billion in military aid via guns, radar, anti-aircraft missiles and ammunition.
“Of course we want to stop the war,” Zelenskyy said as tempers flared on Friday. “Please, you think that if you will speak very loudly about the war–” he attempted to say before being cut off.
“He’s not speaking loudly,” Trump told Zelenskyy of Vance. “Your country is in big trouble.”
