In a new behind-the-scenes video for Disney’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” stars Daisy Ridley and John Boyega talk about the importance of Ridley’s character, Rey.
“Rey is an amazing character,” Ridley says. “I hope that women and men all across the world get to see something they relate to in Rey: a strong woman who kind of does her own thing and has her own story.”
The trailer also features footage of Rey battling with other scavengers on the desert planet of Jakku, something Boyega says is a key feature of the character.
“I think people are gonna love Rey,” he says. “She’s vulnerable, innocent, but at the same time you believe that Rey can become really strong and she can really kick some butt.”
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” opens in theaters on Dec. 18.
