Steve-O Talks About Dealing With Ryan Dunn While Sober

“We have never really hung out without a reason except to get loaded,” “Jackass” star told The Fix

The death of Ryan Dunn has cast a sobering light on the usually laugh-inducing shenanigans of the "Jackass" crew.

And in a recent interview with The Fix, Dunn's co-star Steve-O — who went into rehab for substance abuse in 2008 — talks about what it was like to reunite with Dunn and the rest of his hard-partying compatriots for last year's "Jackass 3-D."

Steve-O (real name: Stephen Glover) told the Web site his sobriety forced him to make adjustments around his former drinking buddies.

"We have never really hung out without a reason except to get loaded," Glover said. "And in sobriety, you check your motives, and if you’re going to put yourself in a situation with people who aren’t sober, you want to be able to have a real reason to be in that situation. And I don’t have any legit reason to be in a situation to watch those guys drink. The whole time we did that third movie, I never once did that."

Dunn, 34, died early Monday morning after crashing his Porsche in Pennsylvania, also killing his passenger, Zachary Hartwell.

Police announced earlier this week that Dunn had a blood-alcohol content of 0.196 — more than double the legal limit — at the time of his death, and that he had been driving between 132 to 140 mph. In the hours before his death, Dunn posted a photo of himself drinking with Hartwell and another associate in an area bar.

Following Dunn's death, Steve-O — who competed on "Dancing With the Stars" following his rehab stint and recently published a memoir, "Professional Idiot" — tweeted, "I don't know what to say, except I love Ryan Dunn and I'm really going to miss him."
