Yahoo has appointed Scott Robson editor-in-chief of Yahoo Entertainment, a newly created position that places him in control of Yahoo Movies, gossip site omg!, Yahoo TV and Yahoo Music.
Robson joins Yahoo from MTV Networks, where he was general manger of NextMovie and Film.com. He has also served as editor-in-chief of AOL’s Moviefone and AOL Television.
The announcement came a day after the company promoted Adweek and Politico vet Hillary Frey to editor-in-chief of news and thestreet.com vet Aaron Task to editor-in-chief of finance — and three days after Google executive Marissa Mayer was tapped as its new CEO,

“This appointment reflects our commitment to provide compelling and relevant content in the entertainment industry,” Rich Cusick, VP of Yahoo Entertainment, said in a statement. “Scott’s experience and background is unrivaled, and makes him the perfect choice to drive our continued growth and leadership in online entertainment news.”
Yahoo’s entertainment properties reach close to 100 million users a month, according to the company, as each of the four aforementioned sites draw more than 20 million unique visitors a month.
Robson will both build out the sites by recruiting staff and building franchises while also taking advantage of new partnerships with Clear Channel’s iHeart Radio and Spotify.
Robson’s hire comes a day after Yahoo promoted Hillary Frey to editor-in-chief of its news division and Aaron Task to the same post overseeing finance.
