Anne Mesah has left Sky for Netflix. The U.K. studio’s now-former head of drama will soon lead the U.S.-based streaming service’s scripted British-content team.
With Netflix’s global reach Mensah can continue to work from London. She’ll start her new gig in early 2019 and report to Cindy Holland, Netflix’s vice president of original content.
“Throughout her career, Anne has celebrated creative freedom, with deep passion for finding and nurturing storytelling you can’t find anywhere else,” Holland said Monday in a press release. “The U.K. has some of the best television in the world and our members love it, both in the U.K. and around the globe. I’m delighted that Anne is joining our team to lead our continued commitment to and investment in U.K. talent and programming.”
During her time leading Sky’s dramas, Mensah developed “Patrick Melrose” (pictured above) and “Fortitude,” two series that stateside viewers may be familiar with. Before her time at Sky, Mensah put in a decade at the BBC.
This year, Netflix had almost 40 U.K. productions underway at one point or another.
