Four people are dead and a dozen injured following a Monday morning shooting in the club The Blue Parrot in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico.
Three of those killed during the BPM Festival attack were security guards. A lone shooter committed the violence, which began in front of the Mexico club on 12th Street in the heart of the city’s popular nightlife district, according to a festival statement.
“The BPM Festival has been working closely with the local authorities (Seguridad Publica / Policia Turistica) throughout the festival to ensure public safety and security for all visitors,” the organizers wrote. “We are overcome with grief over this senseless act of violence and we are cooperating fully with local law enforcement and government officials as they continue their investigation.”
“Our thoughts and prayers are with all the victims and their families and all those affected by these tragic events,” the statement concluded.
