Colbert v. Sanford in South Carolina Race?

Finally, a Democrat that Stephen Colbert can support: His sister has won the Democratic primary in a South Carolina congressional race.

She may have some high-profile competition in the May 7 election.

Gov. Mark Sanford, who famously disappeared for a week in 2009 and later admitted he was visiting his then-mistress in Argentina at the time, will go to a runoff election on the Republican side.

The primary Tuesday was his first election since he revealed the affair. He faces former Charleston County Council member Curtis Bostic in the runoff.

They emerged at the top of a Republican field that included 16 candidates in all, including Teddy Turner, the son of liberal media mogul Ted Turner.

Voters in the district, which leans heavily Republican, are choosing a replacement for Tim Scott, who was appointed to fill the Senate seat of Jim DeMin. He stepped down last year.
