‘90210’s’ Manish Dayal to Star Alongside Helen Mirren in DreamWorks’ ‘The Hundred-Foot Journey’

Dayal will paly a young Indian man who becomes a famous French chef

Manish Dayal, a star of the CW’s “90210” reboot and AMC’s “Rubicon,” will take the lead role in DreamWorks’ “The Hundred-Foot Journey,” the studio announced on Monday. Helen Mirren also will star in the film, which had been previously reported but just confirmed by DreamWorks.

Dayal will play Hassan Haji, a 22-year-old Indian man who becomes a famous French chef with the help of Madame Mallory (Mirren).

Lasse Hallstrom is directing the film, an adaptation of Richard Morais’ bestselling book.

Steve Knight wrote the screenplay, about an Indian family that ignites a culinary rivalry by moving to Southern France and opening an Indian restaurant across the street from a Michelin-starred French restaurant.

Production on the movie will begin in September with DreamWorks partner Disney targeting an Aug. 8, 2014, release in the United States. Mister Smith Entertainment will handle the release in Europe, Africa and the Middle East while DreamWorks’ financial partner Reliance will distribute the film in India.

Dayan is represented by Innovative Artists, Industry Entertainment and Bloom Hergott Diemer Rosenthal Laviolette Feldman Schenkman & Goodman. CAA represents Mirren.
