Aaron Tveit to Play Enjolras in ‘Les Miserables’

The “Gossip Girl” actor joins Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Eddie Redmayne and Amanda Seyfried star in Universal’s musical

Aaron Tveit, the Broadway actor who played Trip van der Bilt on "Gossip Girl," has landed the role of Enjolras in Universal's "Les Miserables," the studio said Wednesday.

Tveit, who proved his chops in "Hairspray," "Wicked," "Catch Me If You Can" and "next to normal" on Broadway, will play Enjolras, the charismatic and idealistic leader of a group of student revolutionaries.

The role puts Tveit — already a well-regarded stage actor — in one of Hollywood's highest-profile projects. It stars Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Eddie Redmayne and Amanda Seyfried, and is being directed by Tom Hooper, who won the Academy Award for directing "The King's Speech."
