‘The View’s’ Nicolle Wallace: NFL Deserves a ‘Smack’ for Mishandling Ray Rice Suspension (Video)

“They suck,” the co-host exclaims, while Rosie O’Donnell called Wallace out on her poor choice of words

“The View’s” Nicolle Wallace probably should have phrased her disdain for the NFL differently during Monday morning’s episode. The co-host suggested that the league deserved to be “smacked” for the way it mishandled the controversy surrounding Ray Rice, the former Baltimore Raven who was suspended after videotape of him hitting his now-wife, Janay Rice.

“They botched this at every level,” Wallace said of the NFL. “They suck.”

Rosie O’Donnell called Wallace out, saying, “a smack is a bad way to put it.”

The ABC talk show was discussing the Rice scandal following Janay Rice’s interview with Matt Lauer on the “Today” show earlier that the morning. Wallace once again used a violent metaphor to describe the Rice incident.

“The judge did give Goodell a smack-down,” Wallace said. “The NFL’s handling of this was described by the judge as ‘arbitrary’ and to me, domestic violence is a serious issue, playing in the NFL is a privilege and the NFL should have a policy.”

“I’ve always believed that you don’t know who the other person is,” Whoopi Goldberg said of domestic abuse. “You don’t know who raised them, what kind of week they’ve been having and, you hit the wrong person, this is what happens.”
