A young couple with a newborn baby may be driving each other and their families insane in the first trailer for Saverio Constanzo’s Venice Film Festival-winning drama “Hungry Hearts.”
The psychological thriller stars Adam Driver and Alba Rohrwacher play a couple in New York City who meet by chance, fall in love, have a child, and then inexplicably begin to descend into madness. The actors both took home the Volpi Cup for Best Actor and Best Actress, respectively, at the Venice Film Fest.
The teaser treads on atmosphere and tension more than plot spoilers, though it does seem as if Rohrwacher’s character Mina is the one who begins to experience mysophobia, refusing to take their new baby outside or allow the child any medications or doctor care.
IFC picked up North American distribution rights, but has not set a release date yet.
