Adele Cancels Final Tour Stops in London: ‘I Have Damaged My Vocal Cords’

“Who the f– cancels a show at Wembley Stadium?” singer asks herself in letter to fans

Adele has canceled the final two shows of her latest world tour after suffering vocal cord damage, the singer said on Friday.

“On medical advice I simple am unable to perform over the weekend. To say I’m heartbroken would be a complete understatement,” she wrote in an emotional note to fans on her Facebook page.

The multiple Grammy winner was halfway through a four-show run at London’s Wembley Stadium when, she writes, her throat started giving her trouble.

“I’ve struggled vocally both nights. I had to push a lot harder than I normally do. I felt like I constantly had to clear my throat, especially last night. I went to see my throat doctor this evening and it turns out I have damaged my vocal cords,” Adele continued.

The British singer went on to apologize to fans, who spent money and time arranging travel to see her. She also took a shot at herself asking aloud, “Who the f— cancels a show at Wembley Stadium?”

The dropped shows have an extra sting, given that only this week Adele speculated the tour might be the last of her career. The 121 date engagement was in support of her blockbuster album “25.”

“Touring is a peculiar thing, it doesn’t suit me particularly well. I’m a real homebody and I get so much joy in the small things. Plus I’m dramatic and have a terrible history of touring,” Adele wrote in a letter inserted into her tour programs last week, reposted to a fan account.
