Alan Rosenberg gagged? Not!

The SAG President has traditionally been authorized by the SAG Board as one of the "official" spokespeople for SAG, along with the National Executive Director and the Director of Communications.

But President Alan Rosenberg has proven again and again that he is not capable of being an honest, neutral spokesperson.  He believes, as you correctly stated, that he and only he knows "the truth".

Consequently, the Board decided that unless it sees some concrete evidence that Mr. Rosenberg will execute the will of the Board, it will not allow him to represent himself as speaking on behalf of the Board and the union.  He continues however to have his traditional access to communicate directly to the members, uncensored by anyone (as was plainly the case).  So in what way has he been "gagged"?

As you know, in his revealing, through-the-looking-glass letter to the members about the termination of Doug Allen, he condemns a completely legal action of the Board of Directors, made necessary by his own illegal behavior as the chair of a face-to-face National Board meeting.

Had Mr. Rosenberg done his job at that meeting, the Board would have been able to complete its business at that meeting — in the very way Mr. Rosenberg insists they should have.  People may judge for themselves whether he is speaking accurately, or delusionally.

It is instructive to note that when this union was operating under the rules imposed by the former National Executive Director, Alan Rosenberg and his Membership First majority, no one (including the Presidents of the National Union or any Division) was allowed to express a thought which was in conflict with Board policy, and not approved by and/or edited by the NED.

Were that still the case, Mr. Rosenberg would have been forbidden to use the Guild’s communications with its members to publish his opinion that the Board did the wrong thing.

Well, Mr. Rosenberg has the majority of the Board to thank for the hiring of David White, and for delegating to him the power to authorize the use of Guild resources to communicate with the members. Thanks to that action, freedom of speech has been restored to SAG. And it only took one day.

As a consequence, Alan Rosenberg continues to have the right to be wrong in front of the entire membership.
