Alicia Silverstone makes an appearance as a successful beauty queen in the first trailer for “Ass Backwards,” an upcoming road trip comedy about two clueless best friends who travel to their hometown to reclaim a crown they never won.
The film’s screenwriters, June Diane Raphael and Casey Wilson, star as best buds who live a delusional life in New York City, where they have found questionable success as a nightclub “girl in a box” dancer and a professional egg donor.

After receiving an invitation to their hometown beauty pageant — in which they placed dead last as children — the loveable losers embark on a journey that will include such sights as a women’s separatist commune, an amateur strip club, and their favorite reality TV star.
Chris Nelson directed the female buddy comedy that co-stars Vincent D’Onofrio, Jon Cryer, Brian Geraghty, Bob Odenkirk, Sandy Martin, Marcia Jean Kurtz and Paul Scheer.
“Ass Backwards” debuts on VOD on Sept. 30 before beginning a theatrical run on Nov. 8. Watch the promising trailer below:
