It was the night of the divas on the “2014 American Music Awards,” and never was it more clear in the closing moments of the ABC event. The penultimate performance was the crowd-pleasing “Bang Bang,” with Jessie J kicking things off from within the audience, later joined by Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj.
For the latter two, it was already their second performance on a night filled with strong women-led numbers. The ladies fired up the audience and kept the energy rising throughout the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles on Sunday night.
After One Direction took home the top award of the night, Artist of the Year, it was down to Jennifer Lopez and Iggy Azalea to close the show with their new single “Booty.”
Neither woman was shy about the song’s title and what it was about, as they offered a kaleidoscopic performance of mesmerizing power. The 45-year old Lopez proved that age isn’t going to slow her down one bit with dance moves every bit as impressive as when she was part of Fox’s “In Living Color” two decades ago.
