AMC’s new martial arts series “Into the Badlands” will premiere in November, the network announced Saturday.

In the trailer released at Comic-Con, we meet a skilled warrior named Sunny (Daniel Wu) who finds a young boy named M.K. (Aramis Knight) locked in a box. The two embark on a journey to find enlightenment. During their spiritual adventure, Sunny initiates M.K. into the martial arts.

The series is set in a postapocalyptic world in which the United States has been stripped of its guns and is run by seven powerful Barons.

Loosely based on the Chinese tale “Journey to the West,” “Into the Badlands”  is exec produced by co-creators Al Gough and Miles Millar, along with Stacey Sher, Michael Shamberg, Stephen Fung, Daniel Wu and David Dobkin. Dobkin also directed the pilot.

Gough and Millar are also the co-creators of “Smallville.”

AMC ordered six, one-hour episodes for release starting in November.
