Amy Powell Named President of Paramount Digital Entertainment

The veteran marketing executive will also oversee micro-budget division Insurge Pictures

Amy Powell has been named president of Insurge Pictures and Paramount Digital Entertainment.

She adds those titles to her current post as president of Insurge Pictures and executive VP of interactive marketing, where she helped oversee innovative social media campaigns for projects including "Paranormal Activity" and "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never." 

The move comes as Paramount has merged its home entertainment, licensing and digital operations in an effort to cut costs.

Powell takes over the top digital post from  Tom Lesinski, who left when his division was folded into home entertainment. 

As head of Insurge Pictures, Powell been tasked with creating more micro-budget films in the "Paranormal" vein. She will report directly to Adam Goodman, president of Paramount Film Group. 

At Digital Entertainment she will report to Rob Moore, vice chairman of Paramount Pictures.

While at interactive marketing, her direct report is Megan Colligan, president of domestic marketing and distribution and Josh Greenstein, chief marketing officer
