CNN contributor Ana Navarro will join “The View” as a regularly occurring guest host, a source familiar with the matter confirmed to TheWrap on Friday. Navarro has been a guest co-host in the past.
Navarro — once a prominent GOP strategist — became an outspoken anti-Trump voice during the 2016 election and regularly appears on CNN. Her new gig with ABC is not expected to affect her relationship with CNN.
Navarro will appear on Fridays and her first appearance is scheduled for today. The news was first reported by Variety’s Ramin Setoodeh — who is currently writing a book about the show.
Once an obscure Florida political operative, Navarro’s profile has risen during the Trump era where she became one of television’s most prominent #NeverTrump conservatives.
Navarro’s pivot toward the popular ABC daytime show reflects the program’s sustaining — and increasingly political — cultural clout. Next week’s guests include former Republican presidential candidate John Kasich, in addition to White House correspondents Jonathan Karl and April Ryan.
