Andrew Dice Clay Acts Like It’s Still 1989 in First Trailer for Showtime Series (Video)

Las Vegas-based comeback comedy unveils April premiere date

Hickory dickory dock: Showtime’s Andrew Dice Clay comeback series dropped its first trailer on Thursday, along with an April 10 release date.

The upcoming show sees Clay playing an exaggerated (we hope) version of himself, relocated to Las Vegas, where he is desperate to make a stand-up comedy comeback. For those who don’t remember, in the late 1980s Dice soared to the absolute heights of stand-up comedy, selling out arenas armed essentially with just a gimmick. Without any real jokes or material, however, he had a fall that was just as swift and severe.

Created by Scot Armstrong, “Dice” sees the once-massive entertainer struggle through life in the desert suburbs. We’ll see the hopefully humbled star attempt to pay back his gambling debts, manage his sons’ heavy metal band, and fend off pumped-up fans. Of course, all the while he’ll don his trademark black leather jacket and fingerless gloves, ready — and praying — for a comeback.

“Dice” also stars Kevin Corrigan, and guest stars Natasha Leggero, Lorraine Bracco, Adrien Brody, Michael Rapaport, Wayne Newton, Criss Angel and Rita Rudner.

The series executive producers are Clay, Armstrong, Sean Furst, Bryan Furst, Bruce Rubenstein, Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka. Produced by Fox 21 Television Studios, “Dice” will run Sundays at 9:30 p.m.
