Andy Samberg will make his debut as host of the Emmy Awards on Sept. 20, and the first teaser has the “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” finding clever ways to make censors nervous.
“We’ve all heard of the seven dirty words you can’t say on TV, but what about the seven words that sound dirty that you can say?” he says in the video, before firing off words like corkscrew, kumquat and shuttlecock.
“Andy has excelled in all aspects of the television universe, both from behind and in front of the camera,” said Bruce Rosenblum, chairman and CEO of the Television Academy, when Samberg was announced as host in March. “His humor, insights and charisma will be an exciting addition to our annual celebration of television’s best and brightest.”
The Emmy nominations were announced in July, led by “Game of Thrones,” with 24 nominations.
The Emmys will air live coast-to-coast on Fox from the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 8 p.m. ET.
