Andy Serkis Goes Wild: See Him in ‘Apes’ — Without Motion-Capture (Video)

Video has emerged of the actor in "Rise," but without the motion-capture-performance technology used to turn him into Caesar

Andy Serkis was hailed for his performance as Caesar in Fox's 2011 "Planet of the Apes" reboot. Now, video has emerged of the actor in "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" — without the motion-capture-performance technology that was used to turn him into the animal.

The HitFix video shows Will (James Franco) saying goodbye to a distressed Caesar, leaving him at an apes sanctuary (see video below).

With his ape performance, Serkis is considered to be an underdog in the Oscar race for best supporting actor. He did, however, pick up a Satellite Award nomination.

"Rise of the Planet of the Apes" grossed $176 million domestically and $303 million worldwide. A sequel starring Serkis is in the works, but Fox has not yet set a release date.
