Angela Bassett on Playing a Badass in ‘Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege’ (Video)

“I think I have a little bit of experience with that,” actress tells TheWrap about her killer role

Angela Bassett is gearing up for battle in “Tom Clancy‘s Rainbow Six Siege.”

The actress is no stranger to playing a badass on screen. She portrayed Secret Service director Lynn Jacobs in 2013’s “Olympus Has Fallen” and CIA director Hayden Chase in the ABC series “Alias.”

So, stepping into the role of Six, deputy director of the international Rainbow Six counter-terrorism unit, was a natural transition.

“I think I have a little bit of experience with that … being the boss,” Bassett told TheWrap in a wide-ranging interview about the new video game, her role in FX’s “American Horror Story: Hotel” and re-teaming with Spike Lee for his upcoming drama “Chi-Raq.”

The award-winning star is the first woman to play Six in the Tom Clancy books and video game franchise. In this latest installment of the Ubisoft release, the Rainbow Six program is reactivated to neutralize the White Mask terrorist threat.

While Bassett admits to being a “novice” in the gaming world, she welcomed the challenge. “It’s just fascinating and interesting to go into an area that’s new for you.”

Tom Clancy‘s Rainbow Six Siege” hits stores on Dec. 1.
