Aretha Franklin’s performance of “(You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman” during the 38th annual Kennedy Center Honors was so powerful, she made President Obama shed a tear.
The iconic singer took the stage at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Dec. 6, when the event took place in Washington, D.C., and belted out the 1967 hit written by Carole King, who was one of the honorees of the evening.
Franklin, who was a 1994 Kennedy Center honoree, started at the piano before standing and belting out the lyrics to prove she’s still the reigning Queen of Soul. The rest of the audience couldn’t resist joining the 73-year-old singer on her feet either, and gave her a booming round of applause.
