AwesomenessTV has appointed Shelley Zimmerman to the newly created role of head of scripted series, the company announced Thursday.
Zimmerman will be charged with the development and production of original scripted series as the company expands its series production across digital platforms, television networks and over-the-top SVOD services.
Zimmerman joins AwesomenessTV from Warner Horizon where she most recently served as senior vice president of scripted programming. During her tenure at Warner Horizon she expanded the studio’s roster of scripted series to a diverse group of networks including “Pretty Little Liars” on ABC Family, Netflix’s “Longmire,” TNT’s “Dallas” and TNT’s “Rizzoli and Isles.”
Prior to Warner Horizon, Zimmerman was president of television development at Tollin/Robbins Productions, where she produced and developed “Smallville,” “One Tree Hill” and “What I Like About You.”
Shauna Phelan will continue in her role overseeing development and production for scripted and unscripted series on AwesomenessTV.
“I’m thrilled to reunite with Shelley,” Brian Robbins, AwesomenessTV founder and CEO, said in a statement. “We had unprecedented success working together at Tollin/Robbins Productions; she was instrumental in the development of ‘Smallville,’ ‘One Tree Hill’ and ‘What I Like About You.’ With so many new distribution platforms creating opportunities for us, she will expand our studio slate of original series.”
AwesomenessTV already produces original series for television and leading OTT platforms. Its sketch series AwesomenessTV aired on Nickelodeon and it currently has “Richie Rich” and “Project MC²” on Netflix.
AwesomenessTV has also entered into an original development and production agreement with DHX Media for content to air on Family Channel in Canada.
