‘Bastille Day’ Directing Gig Goes to Baran Bo Odar (Exclusive)

Andrew Baldwin ("Logan's Run") wrote the action-thriller, which concerns an attack on Paris

"The Silence" director Baran bo Odar is making noise in Hollywood, as he's been hired to direct "Bastille Day," an action-thriller being produced by Vendome Pictures and Anonymous Content, TheWrap has learned.

Vendome is fully financing production of the film, which Anonymous Content developed with screenwriter Andrew Baldwin ("Logan's Run").

Anonymous brought "Bastille Day" to Vendome, which preemptively acquired the project in April 2012 before it became available to all buyers. Pierre Morel ("Taken") was previously attached to direct.

Baldwin's original story follows a young American art student living in Paris and a CIA field agent whose clashes with authority have left him out in the cold. Together, they're tasked with diverting an imminent attack on the City of Lights.

Vendome Pictures CEO Philippe Rousselet is producing "Bastille Day" with Anonymous Content’s Steve Golin, Bard Dorros and David Kanter.

Odar's thriller "The Silence" premiered at the Piazza Grande in Locarno and went on to win several prizes at a handful of film festivals. The film, which stars Ulrich Thomson and Wotan Wilke Möhring, sold to more than 15 countries worldwide. Odar's other directing credits include 2006's "Under the Sun" and the upcoming action thriller "Who Am I."

The director is repped by UTA and 42 Management & Production in London.
