The Fab Four are looking decidedly less fabulous Monday after the producers of "Let It Be" opted to close The Beatles jukebox musical four months early.
The show will wrap up its Broadway run on Sept. 1, 2013 following 46 performances and nine previews. It was originally scheduled to run at the St. James Theatre through December 29, but producers cited sluggish summer sales as the reason for the early closure.

The look at the lads from Liverpool attracted generally favorable reviews, but struggled to compete at the box office despite featuring more than 30 of The Beatles' best known songs. For the week ending August 7, for instance, "Let It Be" was the lowest grossing musical on Broadway, earning $365,570 or 28 percent of its gross potential, according to the Broadway League.
At the time of closing, the Broadway production is projected to have cumulatively grossed between $2 million to $2.4 million dollars, producers said.
The show isn't dead even if its Great White Way engagement is almost over. Producers are planning a North American tour for the 2014/15 Season; as well as tours of the United Kingdom and performances in Russia and Japan.
It continues to enjoy a successful run in London’s West End, where it has grossed over $14 million since debuting in 2012.
