Cincinnati Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert was carted off the field after a gruesome ankle injury that left his foot pointing in an unnatural direction on Sunday.

Early in the third quarter, Eifert caught a pass from quarterback Andy Dalton and was headed downfield when he was tackled by Atlanta Falcons linebacker De’Vondre Campbell. His right leg was caught underneath him, causing his foot to bend at the ankle in a horrific manner.

The footage below was so graphic that Scott Hanson on NFL Red Zone can be heard asking the producers not to show a replay. (Caution to those with a weak stomach.)

Eifert was carted off the field and can be seen covering his face as the stretcher enters the tunnel.

Up until his injury, Eifert was having a great game, having made four catches that yielded 38 yards and a touchdown. Unfortunately, Eifert has had several injuries during his career, mostly to his back. Because of injuries, he was out in 41 of the 80 games his first five years as a pro.
