‘Bering Sea Gold': New Season on Discovery Promises ‘The Most Gold Ever’ (Exclusive Video)

TheWrap’s got a premiere date you might want to mark on your calendar

Discovery has renewed its hit show “Bering Sea Gold,” and TheWrap exclusively has both the first look and a premiere date to program into your DVR.

Starting Friday, March 30 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Discovery Channel,┬áthe returning captains will be back aboard their vessels in Nome, Alaska — but they’ve got company. Ken Kerr and Dave Young, owners of 600-ton Superdredge the “Myrtle Irene” just showed up, and they’re determined to become the kings of the Bering Sea.┬áThe new duo will have to get past “Mr. Gold” Shawn Pomrenke and his mighty “Christine Rose” to take that title.

This summer mining season will bring the highest gold totals in series history, Discovery promises. We just need to know who wins.

It almost surely won’t be Captain Kris Kelly, who has set his sights on taking over The Bluff with his newer, smaller, amphibious dredge the “Reaper.” His plans are threatened by a slew of encroaching miners in The Bluff’s now lawless waters. Plus, you know, he and his family are insane.

Coming off a tough winter season, Emily Riedel, the first and only female dredge owner and the deepest diver of the bunch, seeks redemption with the restored “Eroica.” Don’t bet on her either.

Finally, last year’s rookie George Young juggles prospecting for the mighty “Myrtle Irene” and taking his own dredge, “All About Nuggets,” back out to sea in search of a big payday. Pick a lane, man.

“Bering Sea Gold” is produced for Discovery Channel by Original Productions, a Fremantle Media company. For Original Productions, executive producers are Thom Beers, Sarah Whalen, Ernie Avila, and Jeff Meredith. For Discovery Channel, executive producer is John Slaughter and associate producer is Jessica Mollo.
