The 2014 Black List rolls out its ranking of Hollywood’s top unmade screenplays on Monday, with a decidedly social slant as actors and industry players reveal the list on social media.
Reese Witherspoon, Elizabeth Banks, Daniel Radcliffe, David Oyelowo, Rashida Jones and Will McCormack, Rian Johnson, Ava Duvernay, Damien Chazelle, Phil Lord and Chris Miller and Matthew Weiner are just a few participating in the unveiling of the list.
The Black List is an annual survey of over 500 executive’s favorite screenplays, according to the organization. Over the years, more than 275 Black List scripts have been produced into films grossing over $24 billion in worldwide box office. Black List scripts have won 30 Academy Awards from almost 200 nominations.
Ranking among this year’s list is “Catherine The Great,” by Kristina Lauren Anderson, described as the tale of “Sophia Augusta [who] takes control of her life, her marriage, and her kingdom becoming Russia’s most celebrated and beloved monarch: Catherine the Great.”
