BCDF Pictures has acquired "3022," a script penned by writer Ryan Binaco, multiple individuals involved in the deal told TheWrap.

BCDF found the script after Binaco, a New Jersey native now living in Sweden, uploaded it to the Black List site for review by industry experts. The script climbed to the top of the site’s rankings, where manager Russell Hollander found it and signed Binaco.

Hollander described the film as a psychological sci-fi thriller set during a deep space exploration, but the writer and producers want to keep further details under wraps.

BCDF, which produced Vera Farmiga‘s directorial debut "Higher Ground" and VOD hit "Bachelorette," has also optioned a second script from Binaco, "Eden Folly."

That one is a Western about a rancher who is left for dead in the desert but then awakes to  find out he has no memory.

"He's a great writer with a unique voice and captures something in the air right now," BCDF principal Claude Dal Farra told TheWrap. "He's very good at crafting stories and characters that are very modern.

Dal Farra said the company has spent the past year optioning a handful of scripts and developing them, and was particularly drawn to Binaco. BCDF would finance these movies, and is meeting with various talent agencies to find the right director.

Binaco lives in Sweden because he is still trying to secure a green card for his wife. By the time he arrives stateside, he should already have a film career.
