Blake Shelton Pokes Fun at Adam Levine and ‘The Voice’ in ‘SNL’ Promos (Video)

“Look who’s hosting ‘SNL’ now, pretty boy,” Shelton shouts out to his “Voice” co-star Levine

Cecily Strong did not make it easy for Blake Shelton in the latest batch of promos for NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.” “The Voice” coach will host and perform as the musical guest on the NBC sketch comedy show this weekend.

Strong kicked things off by announcing to Shelton that not only would he be the host and musical guest, but he would also be the entire cast, as the rest of them were going on vacation.

In another bit, she put him in the hot seat for a change, turning her chair around until he could convince her that his hosting performance would be worth turning around to see.

Shelton took a gentle shot at his own show, as well as all reality singing competitions, after Strong did turn around and invite him onto her team.

“OMG! And I have such a heart-warming story, too,” he said. “And a lot of tragedy and perseverance.”

And this wasn’t the only tragedy in the series of spots, as another ended with perhaps the darkest moment yet seen in an “SNL” promo. Even worse, that moment was preceded by a terrible joke.

Shelton got in a jab at his “Voice” co-star Adam Levine as well. “Hey Adam, look who’s hosting ‘SNL’ now, pretty boy,” he said directly to the camera with a laugh. “Hot shot, you silly mother — can you say cuss words on this show?”

When he found out he couldn’t, Shelton said that he was done.
