‘The Florida Project’ Star Brooklynn Prince: ‘I Want to Be the First Girl President’ (Video)

Power Women Breakfast L.A.: 7-year-old actress has some lofty career goals

Brooklynn Prince, the breakout 7-year-old star of the new indie “The Florida Project,” said that after being the first “little girl director,” she’d like to one day be the first female president of the United States.

“I was kind of hoping that Hillary [would win],” she told TheWrap founder Sharon Waxman at the Power Women Breakfast L.A. on Thursday. “That there would just be some kind of girl president. I want to be the first girl president… when I grow up.”

Prince said she looks up to young female stars like Gal Gadot, Daisy Ridley, Emma Watson and sisters Elle and Dakota Fanning. She cited those actresses’ strong leadership, support of women’s rights and charity work. Prince had special praise for Ridley, who broke out in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

“She was a first-time actress and she took a big step to be a strong character and be in ‘Star Wars’ which has been around like since I was born,” she said.

Prince said that she likes acting “because there’s so many possibilities.”

The young star has big ambitions. “I’ve always wanted to change the world in life when I was a little kid — as in like two, three years old and up,” she said. “There’s so many charities and stuff you can get it to by doing acting and stuff.”

But after acting in “The Florida Project,” Prince would like to dip her toes into directing as well — and then her sights are set on politics.
