Bruce Jenner Talks Family in New Interview Teaser: ‘I Can’t Let Myself Hurt Them’ (Video)

ABC News exclusive interview with Diane Sawyer airs Friday at 9 p.m. ET

ABC News released its latest promo in advance of Friday’s highly anticipated Diane Sawyer interview with Bruce Jenner. In the latest clip, which is slightly longer than previous teasers, Jenner talks about the importance of family, and how his life in the spotlight has shaped him.

“Bruce Jenner — The Interview” has been promoted by the network with the tagline “The Journey, The Decisions, The Future.” In this video of the interview with Diane Sawyer, those moments are interspersed with photos from throughout Jenner’s life, from his time as an Olympic athlete to his time in the spotlight as the patriarch of the Kardashian clan.

The two-hour special is expected to include Jenner opening up about his plans to undergo gender reassignment surgery, as has been widely speculated for months now. The network, however, remains elusive about the exact content of the interview.

“My whole life has been getting me ready for this,” Jenner tells Diane Sawyer in the promos. In the latest teaser, he spoke about family, saying, “Those are the only ones I’m concerned with. I can’t let myself hurt them.”

At another point, he states, “It made me who I am.” While there isn’t specific context for this short quote, the emphasis throughout the promo of his Olympic past and time on-camera with the Kardashians is indicative that he is referring to his life in the spotlight in some capacity.

David Sloan acts as executive producer for Friday’s “20/20” event, with Mark Robertson and Jessica Velmans on board as senior producers. Margaret Dawson and Sean Dooley will act as lead producers.

According to TMZ, Jenner will chronicle his complete life and “present himself as a woman publicly for the first time” during the special, though he is not expected to reveal his new name nor dress as a woman on-camera.

Diane Sawyers’s exclusive interview with Bruce Jenner will air as a special two-hour broadcast of “20/20” on Friday at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
