The 19th-century American Civil War lives on through reenactments, and now “Captain America: Civil War” is getting the same treatment.
Funny Or Die has successfully spoofed the Avengers-heavy blockbuster, recruiting Tony Hale (“Veep”) and Adam Pally (“The Mindy Project”) as Iron Man and Cap, respectively.
The supporting gang is all there, including a white Black Panther. (It’s cool, he identifies as black.)
Unfortunately, Crossbones shows up to a location not historically accurate to the movie, and that causes a real problem in front of spectators.
Mostly though, the 13-minute parody features the two main adversaries whining at each other on and off the battlefield — including in the pool supply store where they both work — just like the real thing.
“Captain America: Civil War” brought in $179.1 million at the box office in its first weekend, edging out Iron Man in terms of box office performance: “Iron Man 3” was previously in the fifth position with a $174.1 million opening weekend. “Civil War” came in just behind the opening of last year’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” which opened to $191.3 million.
