Lindsey Beer and Geneva Robertson-Dworet are writing the screenplay for “Silver & Black,” a Sony movie project centered on the Marvel Comics characters Silver Sable and the Black Cat, TheWrap has learned.

“Silver and Black,” which signed on “Shots Fired”‘s Gina Prince-Bythewood as director, will hit theaters on February 8, 2019. The movie stars two of Spidey’s most prominent female sparring partners: Silver Sable, a mercenary who runs a company that hunts criminals, and hasn’t been introduced in a previous film; and Black Cat the daughter of a cat burglar who reformed and briefly became a crime fighting ally of Spider-Man.

“Silver and Black” will follow Sony’s “Venom,” which has cast Tom Hardy in the lead role. It’s the latest push by the studio to create films based on characters in the Spider-Man universe. Neither will be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is spearheaded by Marvel Entertainment and Disney.

Matt Tolmach and Amy Pascal from Sony Pictures are producing. Palak Patel is overseeing for Columbia Pictures.

Beer recently worked on “Chaos Walking,” Lionsgate’s upcoming post-apocalyptic thriller starring Daisy Ridley and Tom Holland. Robertson-Dworet worked on “Tomb Raider,” as well as Marvel’s “Captain Marvel,” currently in production.

Beer is repped by WME and Gang Tyre. Robertson-Dworet is repped by WME, Management 360 and Hansen Jacobson.

The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news about Beer and Robertson-Dworet’s involvement.
