Nathan Fillion returns to Disney XD’s “Gravity Falls” on Monday to reprise his role as Pacifica’s snobby father, Preston Northwest. But the actor won’t be greeted with a ticker-tape parade, he will instead face off against a gnarly ghost who flings fancy dinnerware at his head.
The episode titled “Northwest Mansion Noir” centers around Pacifica’s (Jackie Buscarino) reluctant efforts to enlist Dipper (Jason Ritter) in ridding the Northwest Mansion of the havoc-wreaking ghost bent on ruining her family’s highfalutin party.
“What a pleasure being a guest on ‘Gravity Falls.’ I’m not sure if they welcome everyone the same way they did me, but they are obviously happy in their work, incredibly kind, and right at the end, spilled coffee on me. It was a real treat. And, super hot,” Fillion told TheWrap.
The actor’s resume is filled with projects that eventually earned cult status, including his run as Captain Mal Reynolds on Fox’s short-lived space series “Firefly” and his turn as the surreptitious superhero Captain Hammer on “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog,” which debuted online.
For the past seven seasons, however, the 43-year-old star has been the face of ABC’s long-running series “Castle.” He also has notable voice credits including the Cartoon Network series “Justice League” and “Robot Chicken.”
Created by Alex Hirsch, “Gravity Falls” follows Dipper and his twin sister Mabel (Kristen Schaal) as they engage in a series of paranormal misadventures. The Disney XD series is currently on Season 2.
Fillion returns to “Gravity Falls” on Monday, February 16 at 8:30 p.m. on Disney XD.
