CBS has picked up “Elementary” and “Amazing Race” for the 2017-18 season, the network announced Saturday.
On its way into its sixth season, “Elementary” is a contemporary update of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s character Sherlock Holmes. Jonny Lee Miller stars as the famed former Scotland Yard consultant, with Lucy Liu as Dr. Joan Watson.
Reality competition “Amazing Race,” which sees teams of pairs racing all around the world to complete tasks, is currently in Season 29.
Earlier in the day, CBS canceled freshman comedy “The Great Indoors,” starring Joel McHale.
Previously, CBS had already given early renewals to 16 of its series, including five freshman shows, “Bull,” “Kevin Can Wait,” “MacGyver,” “Man With a Plan” and “Superior Donuts.”
Long-running favorites such as all three iterations of “NCIS,” “Criminal Minds,” “The Big Bang Theory,” “Blue Bloods” and “Hawaii Five-0” are also returning. Dramas “Scorpion” and “Madam Secretary,” along with comedies like “Kevin Can Wait,” “Mom” “Life in Pieces” and “Man With a Plan” were also renewed.
“Code Black” and “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders” are still awaiting news of renewal or cancellation.
