CBS ordered pilots for both a comedy starring and produced by Mark Feuerstein and an astronaut drama produced by “The Martian” author Andy Weir on Tuesday.

“9J, 9K, and 9L” is a family comedy inspired by a time in Feuerstein’s adult life when he lived in apartment 9K in the building he grew up in, sandwiched between his parents’ apartment, 9J, and his brother, sister-in-law and their baby’s apartment, 9L, and his attempts to set boundaries with his intrusive but well-meaning family.

Feuerstein will star in the multi-camera comedy in addition to executive producing and writing. Dana Klein will also write and executive produce. Aaron Kaplan, Wendi Trilling and Dana Honor will serve as executive producers.

CBS Television Studios will produce.

The drama pilot, “Mission Control,” follows the next generation of NASA astronauts and scientists as they juggle both their personal and professional lives during a critical mission with no margin for error.

Weir will write and executive produce the pilot. Courtney Conte and Quan Phung will executive produce for Slingshot Global Media. Simon Kinberg, Aditya Sood and Charles Eglee will also executive produce. CBS Television Studios will produce.

This marks the first pilot orders for CBS this season. Earlier on Tuesday, ABC ordered an untitled legal drama from super-producer Shonda Rhimes.
